Telluride, a
turn-of-the-century mining town and the infamous site of Butch
Cassidy's first bank robbery, is authentic, gracious, tough-minded
and Western. Telluride is sufficiently "out of the way" to escape
the crowds, yet easily reached via jet service to Montrose airport.
Amidst the majestic San Juan mountain peaks, you'll enjoy over 2,000
acres of open bowls, glades, chutes, and 84 trails without a lift
line in sight and an average 300 days of Rocky Mountain sunshine and
almost 4,000’ of lift serviced vertical.
Unlike other destination resorts, Telluride
offers a truly Unhassled Mountain Experience. Telluride's slopes and
lifts remain uncrowded throughout the season - so you can really
enjoy your ski vacation. In fact, the mountain is so uncrowded that
you'll often feel like you are on your own private ski slope.
The community is nestled securely at the end of
the road in a box canyon, and surrounded by towering 14,000 ft.
peaks densely blanketed in aspens. Telluride may be remote, but
that's part of its charm; the enclave-like setting is protected by
its natural environment, creating feelings of coziness. The gondola
and ski-in, ski-out environment of both the European style Mountain
Village and quaint 19th century mining town means little traffic, so
even the kids can get around easily. Telluride's free, scenic
gondola connects town, Mountain Village and the slopes with ease
from morning until midnight, so there's no wrestling with tickets or
crowding onto busses.
Telluride's incredible terrain now includes eight
new runs of backcountry-style terrain and over 1,000 vertical feet
of new terrain adjacent to the breathtaking Prospect Bowl. Set
against the dramatic backdrop of Palmyra Peak on the western end of
the resort, Black Iron Bowl is both challenging and exceptionally
beautiful. Revelation Bowl is some of the biggest wide open terrain
Telluride Skiers have ever known. Covering a full 1000 vertical
feet, the new terrain includes the expansive Mountain Quail couloir,
European-style faces, open glades and steep chutes. Black Iron Bowl,
named for an old mining claim, is an excellent addition to the
existing inbounds hike-to areas of Bald Mountain and Prospect Ridge,
where advanced skiers and boarders enjoy fresh tracks virtually all
season.
The Telluride Ski Experience offers an incredible
mountain experience for all levels of skiers thanks to a mix of
quality terrain at all points on the mountain. From refined groomed
runs to challenging bumps, to steeps that will take your breath
away, there truly is something for everyone. Even beginners and
intermediate skiers can ride to the highest peaks and enjoy terrain
and views typically reserved for the experts.
